PRAYER FOR YOUR CHURCH

Lord, I lift up my elders (church board) to You. Help us respect and honor them as they direct the affairs of our church. May they wholeheartedly give their attention to prayer and ministry of the Word. Keep them above reproach, devoted to their families, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable and able to teach. May they be gentle and honest as they deal with people. (1Tim. 5:17; Acts 6:4; 1 Tim. 3:1-2; Titus 1:7)

The Pastor as Prayer Champion PDF Print E-mail
By Phil Miglioratti

As a former senior pastor and a current national prayer mobilizer, I’ve had opportunity to interact with many pastors and prayer leaders. I have experienced that one of the goals of many churches is to enable its lay people to minister. That’s certainly biblical. But often the senior minister will abdicate his responsibility to those who are given leadership in a certain area.

Many ministries flourish under lay leadership. Prayer, however, has a little different dynamic. A good prayer leader can oversee and develop a great deal, and can be an invaluable asset to a church.  But prayer will grow far more quickly if the senior pastor stays involved.

Taking It from the Top PDF Print E-mail
By Sandy Mayle

Prayer is already a priority at First Alliance Church in Erie, Pennsylvania.  The first of our eight core values as a church is “Prayer is the first work.”  But as four of us traveled to our first-ever CPLN prayer conference, we anticipated the discovery of ways to help our church more fully live out this goal.

The Empowered Conference (June 2005) in Minnesota, did not disappoint.  It was there we learned to identify our most vital prayer asset!  We did not understand how integral this asset has been to the prayer life of our church.
