PRAYER FOR YOUR CHURCH

Single parents

 

Lord, I lift up the single parents in our church. May they know You as father to the fatherless and defender of widows! Let us be a real family to them when they are lonely. Show us ways to include them and minister grace to them. Stir up practical ideas in us that show Your love and care. Help them relax in Your grace and provision which is more than enough for every weakness and need. (Ps. 68:5, 6; 25:16; Matt. 25:35-40; 2 Cor. 12:9; Phil. 4:19)

If you want to develop prayer for missions in your church, then here are three prayer support tools you must have.

  1. Prayer Guides. Harvest Prayer Ministries produces two prayer guides that will help your people: “Effective Biblical Prayers for Missionaries” and “B-L-E-S-S Your Missionaries with Prayer.” “Effective Biblical Prayer” is based on the five places Paul says, “Pray for me . . .  that.” “B-L-E-S-S” provides prayer ideas for five areas of a missionary’s life: body, labor, emotional, social, and spiritual. Both will help your people pray beyond simply asking God to bless missionaries. They are available in two formats: you can order packs of 25 for $10, or you can purchase a pdf file for $10, which allows you to print as many copies you need for your church’s use. 2.      Global Prayer Digest. The Global Prayer Digest is a monthly devotional magazine produced by the U.S. Center for World Mission (the same people who put on the World Perspective courses). Each day it gives a glimpse of what God is doing around the world, and what still remains to be done. Condensed missionary stories, biblical challenges, urgent reports, and exciting descriptions of unreached peoples provide content that will fuel prayer for the world.

It is available in a number of formats: print, email (which comes to you each day),  pdf,  PDA, and youth versions. You can subscribe to the print version for $12 annually. Go to www.global-prayer-digest.org for more information or to order.

  1. Operation World. As was mentioned in the Points of Interest article, this book is the premier missions praying tool available today. Every country on earth is listed, along with the following information: Geographical and population, people groups represented, various religious groups in country, economic and political systems, and finally a long section on answered prayer and prayer needs. The appendices provide detailed information to get you more information: on countries, prayer networks, and missions agencies. This tool will help you and your people to pray with more fervor and more knowledge. Two versions are available: a book version for $19.99 and a version with a CD-ROM for $32.99. If you want to see missions praying grow in your church, start by getting ahold of these products. Then seek God for what He would have you do to fuel prayer for completing the Great Commission.
