. . . the internet has been a blessing to prayer leaders all across the planet! We can email our entire prayer team in seconds, search (or do you say google?) the world wide web for new resources, subscribe to e-newsletters with the latest information on national initiatives and receive up-to-the-moment international prayer requests. Wow!
May I caution you to balance two potential excesses?
The excess of ignoring or under-using all the amazing progress and
products at your keyboard finger tips. The vast amount of incoming
e-messages can be overwhelming. The plethora of opportunities can be
confusing. And, when some of get overwhelmed or confused, we shut down.
But when we do, the ministry of prayer suffers and runs the risk of
drying up. Vibrant ministries of prayer are fueled by a constant flow
of fresh ideas which renew our passion for the Christ to whom we pray.
The other extreme, inundating our team with an unfiltered barrage of
forwarded emails and photocopied handouts. We may not be overwhelmed by
the volume nor confused by the steady stream of incoming message but if
we fail to carefully (and prayerfully) select what we pass along, we
may soon have an unfocused team and distracted intercessors.
Remember, the internet is a tool to equip you to equip the saints so
that they are more capable of fulfilling their ministry of prayer. Use
it but use it wisely.
